All Hail The Potato! Here’s the very popular and versatile Indian street food. Made with spiced potatoes. Serve with Mint & Coriander Chutney and Natural Yogurt. It’s also perfect for fasts if you use Sendha Namak (Rock Salt) instead of the usual salt.

Main Ingredients Boiled Potatoes
Level Of Cooking Medium
- Boiled Potatoes 4 medium
- Onion 1 large finely chopped
- Coriander Leaves 2 tablespoons chopped
- Green Chillies 2 chopped
- Chaat Masala or Black Salt 1 teaspoon
- Black Pepper Powder 1 teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder 1 teaspoon
- Cooking Oil Sufficient for shallow frying 8-10 Tikkis (Spiced Potato Patties)
- Salt to taste
Mash the boiled potatoes. Add chopped onions, coriander leaves, green chillies, chaat masala (or black salt), black pepper powder, red chilli powder and salt to taste and mix. The Tikki (Spiced Potato Patty) mix is now ready.
Divide the mixture into 8-10 equal portions and make balls out of each. Flatten the balls into round patties.
Heat a griddle (tava). Sprinkle some cooking oil on it. Put 3-5 patties depending on the size of your griddle (tava) on oil and cook till the bottom surface turns golden brown. Then flip each of them upside down and sprinkle some oil around their edges and cook until the second side also turns golden brown. You can keep on turning them after intervals to have a nice golden brown colour.
Tranfer the prepared Tikkis (Spiced Potato Patties) on a plate and serve hot and crispy with Mint & Coriander Chutney and Natural Yogurt. It’s also perfect for fasts if you use Sendha Namak (Rock Salt) instead of the usual salt and skip the onions.I love Aalu Tikkis (Spiced Potato Patties) as a side dish to Khichdi too. The two bring magic together.
